Timing of Upgrade Installation



Install your upgrade as soon as possible after receiving the CD.

There is no need to wait until the new financial year.

Ace Payroll releases an upgrade each year, and we are often asked when is the best time to install the upgrade.
  • We take a very cautious approach when answering this question. The chance of an upgrade causing a problem is virtually nil, but it is best to be safe.

  • When it comes to tax change upgrades many clients wait until just before their first pay in the new financial year before installing. This is the worst possible time to install your upgrade. If something does go wrong, you are leaving yourself very little time to get it right.

  • Furthermore, this is the one time of the year that everyone seems to call us, and our help desk gets extremely busy.

  • The despatch of annual tax upgrades starts early February. If you install them then, your tax will not change over until April 1 because the program always contains multiple tax tables, and uses the tax rates applicable based on the pay period end date.

  • Therefore, it is not necessary to delay installing the upgrade.

  • By installing the upgrade straight away you have two months to make sure the upgrade is installed properly, rather than having to panic at the last moment.

  • Throughout the rest of the year, the same principle applies. Some people install the disk just before they are due to do a pay. The best time is just after you have filed your regular payroll. This means you have till the next pay period - at least a week - to get it right.
