On startup Ace Payroll opens and reads a file containing all your general setup data. This file is called paysetup.dta Very occasionally the file is corrupted
by some other program. Whilst slight, the chances of corruption are increased by the use of games and the internet. Ace Payroll automatically detects if this file is corrupted, and warns you
with the following danger message If you get this message, you should firstly sort out the cause of the problem
which will always be to do with the file allocation table. You sort this out by running Scan Disk. After you have sorted out your computer, you then have three different choices
on how to sort out your data file 1. EITHER Restore all files from your last backup If you have a recent backup, restore the data files and then re enter any data
changed since the last backup. 2. OR Restore just the setup file from your last backup Use the selective restore method to just restore the
setup file from your backup data. If you do this, remember to change your current pay date after having restored the file. The current pay date will reflect the pay date when the data files were backed up, but chances are you
will have filed another pay since then. Change the current pay date to reflect this. 3. OR Delete the setup file and re enter the setup data Use the
selective delete method to delete just the setup file. If you do this you will then need to re enter all relevant setup data - registration, employer information, pay rate structure etc.
