DirectLink Account Numbers

DirectLink has 8 digits for the bank account number, whereas Ace Payroll uses 7 digits.

The reason for having 8 digits in DirectLink is unclear - no New Zealand banks have 8 digit account numbers.

All Ace Payroll account numbers are automatically left padded with zeroes when entered, and again when exported to the banking software.

Accordingly if an account number is '0065345', all you need type is '65345'. The leading zeroes are automatically added.

Enter the bank account number into Ace Payroll exactly as given by your employee - Ace Payroll will add the leading zero automatically when exporting to DirectLink.

We suspect the reason for the confusion some clients experience with DirectLink is that they are used to manually loading transactions into DirectLink, in which case they need to add leading zeroes themselves.

When these clients switch to using the export file created by Ace Payroll they sometimes think they still need to add the zero.

Again, Ace Payroll automatically converts our 7 digits to the correct 8 digit DirectLink format when the export file is created. Simply enter the bank account number exactly as the employee gives it to you.
