I run Linux on my computer and I want to be able to run Ace Payroll. Is this possible?
  • You can run Windows programs on a Linux machine by using a program called Wine which emulates Windows. ''

  • Some Windows programs run better than others under Wine, but we are happy to report that Ace Payroll runs reliably under Wine.

  • Wine is completely free and can be downloaded from the Wine website.

  • Alternatively, a commercial version of Wine is called Crossover. The difference is ease of installation and use, as well as availability of technical support. ''

  • You can download Crossover from the Crossover website.

I run Windows on all of my computers but am about to install a Linux server. Currently I have Ace Payroll stored on my Windows server, can I keep doing this with my Linux server?
  • Yes, we have many clients who store Ace Payroll on their Linux server and access it from their Windows machines.

  • There are no complications or differences in procedure.

I'm thinking of using Linux but am a bit of a computer novice. Do you know of anyone with experience in both Linux and Ace Payroll?
  • Yes, we recommend contacting a firm called Egressive who specialise in Linux, and use Ace Payroll for their business on a Linux computer.
