Using Ace Payroll On An Apple Mac

Can I run Ace Payroll on an Apple Mac?

''

  • Many people use Ace Payroll on their Apple Mac computer.

  • As long as your Apple Mac is able to run Windows programs, Ace Payroll runs perfectly - just like it does on a Windows PC.

  • We describe here the two main ways to run Windows programs on an Apple Mac.

''
  • If your Mac runs the Leopard operating system, then this comes with a useful program called Boot Camp.

  • Boot Camp allows you to install and run Windows XP or Windows Vista on your Mac. Therefore, ensure you have retained your Windows XP or Vista installation CD.

  • Under Boot Camp, you can switch between the Mac desktop and the Windows XP/Vista desktop.

  • When running in Windows mode, Ace Payroll runs as per normal - everything works as if you were using a PC.

    ''
  • There are no costs involved in using Boot Camp - it comes with your Leopard operating system.

  • Follow this link for more information about Boot Camp on Apple's website.

''
  • The only "problem" some people find with a solution like Boot Camp is that you need to switch between the Mac and Windows desktops when you want to run a Windows program like Ace Payroll.

  • One way to avoid this is a program called Parallels Desktop for Mac.

  • The concept is the same as Boot Camp - you can run Windows programs. The difference is you run them straight from your Mac desktop - there is no need to switch into Windows mode.

  • This means you really are getting the best of both worlds - the use of Apple's computer and operating system, whilst running any Windows program alongside your Mac programs.

  • The only downside is that you would need to purchase Parallels whereas Boot Camp is free.
