Percentage Of Gross - Manually Changing From 4 to 5 Weeks
  • For an employee paid using the Percentage Of Gross method, these steps increase an employee's annual leave entitlement from 8% to 10% a year.

  • Remember that for staff receiving the minimum entitlement of 6% a year, the change is automatically handled by Ace Payroll. Do nothing, and the change to 8% a year is automatic.

  • Remember also that for staff that were already receiving 8% a year, Ace Payroll also does nothing. The employee entitlement stays at 8% a year.

  • These notes apply only to employers that paid their staff 8% a year before 1st April 2007, and now wish to increase the entitlement to 10% a year.

  • Our research has indicated that less than 1% of employers intend to do this.

  • Before making these changes ensure you have backed up your data files.

  • Backing up your data files allows you to go back to where you started if you get confused, or need to call for help.

  • Select the employee from the Employee Maintenance screen.

  • Select Leave then Holiday Pay

  • Click the Print button to print your current settings before making changes to them.

  • Ace Payroll strongly recommends printing this screen. By doing so, you enable us to see what your settings were prior to the change, should you get stuck and need help.

  • This screen also displays the current holiday pay owed to the employee.

  • Under Step 1 on the screen below, click Calculation Method.

  • Leave the current percentage of gross selection ticked, and click the words Different Percentage.

  • Change this percentage to what you want from now on. For example, if you want the equivalent of 5 weeks leave, change it to 10%.

  • Ensure you have scrolled down to Step 2 on the same screen.

  • Click Opening Entitlement Date and enter the date from which you want the new percentage to start accruing. For example, entering 01/04/2007 begins the accumulation from 1st April.

  • Click Opening Entitlement Dollars Owing and enter the dollar value of holiday pay currently owed at the date you have just entered.

  • Click GO to save your changes.

  • This has the effect of telling Ace Payroll to accrue based on 10% a year from the date you have selected, whilst preserving the previous annual leave balance.
